In this post, you’ll find information about Preply, a platform where you can choose a tutor for online Italian lessons.
We’ll talk about Preply Italian tutors as well as the commission that the platform gets.
We’ll show you a list of Preply users’ reviews and we’ll also give you our own opinion.
Last but not least, we’ll tell you about another great option to learn Italian.
Let’s get started!
Preply is a language learning platform where you can choose a tutor for online Italian lessons.
You can select the price range per hour, the nationality of your tutor, and the availability, so, you can choose a tutor who offers lessons compatible with your schedule.
You can also select their specialties and languages, and search by name or keyword.
And you can sort the selection by relevance, popularity, price, number of reviews, and best rating.
Most lessons are done via Skype.
So, it’s pretty straightforward and personalized.
Each tutor has a profile and prices per session vary according to the tutor.
In their profiles, you can see the following details:
- if it’s a top teacher
- reviews and stars
- number of active students
- number of lessons taught
- a short description
It’s pretty user-friendly, so it’ll be easy for you to choose a tutor.
Students pay the price they select based on their choices.
However, as for teachers, Preply takes a 100% commission fee of the first lesson payment with every new student.
For all subsequent lessons, the commission varies from 33 to 18% and depends on the number of completed lesson hours with students.
The more tutoring a teacher does through Preply, the less commission they pay.
So, it’s not the fairest application because of the high commission.
Preply users’ reviews
Here’s a list of some users’ reviews:
“Wonderful concept! Easy to find a teacher, easy to book, and thus far my teacher is fantastic. She was able to quickly decipher what I did and didn’t know and figure out where I should go.”
“Have only had two lessons, but have already suggested Preply to others. Easy to use the site, great instructors. Customer service is excellent. I think this is going to work out well for me finally learning Greek! I would heartily recommend it. Give it a try….you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!”
“My teacher is outstanding. She is competent, patient, and professional. She recommended that I use Preply in part because the site is secure. The site/service has been easy to navigate and helpful, especially in terms of handling payments. Thank you very much.”
“I started working in Preply recently. Preply is a flexible and friendly platform to learn new languages. It is helping students a lot to improve their skills.”
Our Preply review
Preply is a pretty decent platform for learners to find tutors for a reasonable price and yet still able to get a good quality service.
It’s a safe as well as flexible application.
Unlike Italki and Verbling, the choice here is much wider and not limited to learning foreign languages.
However, the commission they take from teachers is outrageously high, thus we don’t recommend it.
This is why we recommend instead Ripeti Con Me. You’ll find information about it below.
