How to use uguale

In today’s short post, we’re going to learn how to use uguale.

Uguale means:

  • Identical
  • The same
  • Equal

We use it when we want to refer to something/someone having the same identical characteristics of something/someone else.

Its meaning might be easy to remember since uguale sounds a bit like “equal”.

However, uguale might be a bit tricky to pronounce since it has 4 vowels. So, we recommend practicing its pronunciation.

For now, let’s just have a look at the two possible ways of using uguale:

Lo stipendio è uguale per tutti gli insegnanti.

The salary is the same for all the teachers.

Ho comprato un vestito uguale al tuo.

I bought a dress that’s identical to yours.

What does uguale mean

Uguale, uguali

Uguale is an adjective since it describes a noun (a person, a thing, etc.).

However, unlike other adjectives there are only two variants, as you can see below:

  • uguale for masculine AND feminine singular noun;
  • uguali for masculine AND feminine plural nouns.

Have a look at the examples below and pay attention to when we use uguale and when we use uguali:
